Marin French Cheese Company

It never ceases to amaze me that every time I visit the Marin French Cheese factory, there is always a group of European tourists ! No joke. Never mind the accolades and awards, this fact alone speaks volumes for the quality of cheeses you will sample (and purchase) at this lovely little spot. I visit several times a year, since it is only 15 minutes from my home, and it makes for a perfect Sunday afternoon.


The deli will fix you up a wonderful sandwich while you peruse their half bottle wine selections, and sample the glorious cheeses. Your mouth will convince you that all of those awards displayed in the glass cabinets are well earned. Contemplate which one of their wonderful picnic baskets is right for you to take home or give as a marvelous gift.


The picnic grounds and lake are a great spot for children to run around. There is always some form of wildlife. Most recently, some geese with personality.





The Marin French Cheese factory is located 10 miles outside of downtown Petaluma. Tours are available, call 707.762.6001. To get there, take D Street south, up through the winding hills, catch a view of the olive groves on your way. Better yet, go here for directions.
