Downtown Sebastopol in Springtime

cherry blossoms Sonoma County has no shortage of charming towns, and Sebastopol is certainly one of them. For an afternoon of eclectic shopping, don’t miss Sebastopol in March, when the cherry blossoms are at their most fragrant.

Today, we spent the day on Main Street. Sebastopol is an earth friendly, organic minded town, and the retailers in this district all reflect this attitude.

For a special lunchtime splurge, enjoy a gourmet luncheon at K & L Bistro, located at 119 South Main Street. See our review here.

Cross the street to see the Waldorf style children’s store Earth Child for toys, clothing, books and accessories. Earth Child is focused on the magic of play, and the store offers many dress up choices for children’s amusement.

Accompany your read with a fine cup of tea.

The Uncarved Block has just opened at 110 North Main Street (formerly in Santa Rosa) and is a geologist’s delight. This shop features rock crystals, mineral specimens, and jewelry. The proprietor is also into all things Grateful Dead, so pick up any ‘Dead’ paraphernalia at this stop.

If you crave something sweet and a cup of coffee or tea, stop in to the local’s favorite East West Cafe. This stop also offers a casual atmosphere for vegetarian and Mediterranean fare, and is famous for their breakfast.

At 128 North Main Street is a shop that will stop you in your sensory tracks. Enter Sumbody for the most pure, clean, spa like smell in town. This natural bath and body shop has a few sister stores in San Diego, Napa, and Santa Barbara, and is recommended simply for the the sensational scents inside. Soaps are stacked like skyscrapers, and there is an amazing selection of bath salts, scrubs, and moisturizers. It’s no wonder that Sumbody has a huge celebrity following.

At 138 North Main Street is the Wine Country’s favorite local book store Copperfield’s Books, with four locations in Sonoma County and two locations in Napa. Copperfield’s also has a rare and used bookstore located just a few shops away on North Main Street.

Traveling north on Main Street, you’ll come to Artisana, a boutique offering functional art, jewelry, journals and more.

Finally, if you have a few hours to spare, don’t miss Puttin’ on the Bisque and Glassfusion Studio, an art studio where you create your own ceramic or glass treasures. Both share the same space and are located around the corner at 6906 Sebastopol Avenue. For our review, go here.

Sebastopol’s famous Apple Blossom Festival is in late April when WCC will visit again. Until then, we’re still enjoying the cherry blossoms in spring.
