There's a special little spot in downtown Sebastopol where Mr. WCC and I go to enjoy a gourmet lunch. K & L (Karen and Lucas) own this Zagat rated gem that features seasonal specials, seafood, and California/French cuisine. You'll feel true bistro ambiance here as you view scenes from Paris on the walls, paired with the exposed brick background. If crowded, you can sit at the lovely little bar that features a great wine list. K&L Bistro has a very petite but open kitchen about 13 feet by 15 feet, and it is hard to believe all of this taste comes from such a small space.

Carmelized onion tart with goat cheese, tomato confit, and surrounded by a kalamata olive tapenade. Just the right combination of sweet, savory and salty.
The beet salad with blue cheese and toasted walnuts

The heavenly macaroni and cheese gratin with gruyere and panko crust.
Today, we also savored the mushroom omelette with gruyere, swiss, and fine herbs accompanied by a green salad. In the past, we've sampled the tuna tartare, the frito misto, the classic French fare steak frites and the crab cakes with remoulade, all excellent choices for lunch. The total for today's lunch was $55 including tip.
K & L Bistro is located at 119 S. Main Street in Sebastopol, and is open Monday through Saturday for lunch. Call 707.823.6614 for reservations.
