Lunch Hour: Dazzling Flavor at Cafe Zazzle (Petaluma)

There’s a special little cafe in downtown Petaluma that offers zesty flavors and plenty of punch for your palate.  Cafe Zazzle is located in the middle of the charming Kentucky Street, a location known for its great antiques and boutiques.  (See our previous post on the shopping along Kentucky Street.) 

Right in the heart of the menu at Cafe Zazzle, this quote appears:  “What is zest?  Zest is a noun and when defined as taste some synonyms are: Bite, body, charm, flavor, ginger, guts, kick, punch, relish, savor, spice, tang, zip...”  

Locals know, you’ll find plenty of zest at Cafe Zazzle. 

Famous for their noodle bowls, fresh salads, fish tacos, and creative wraps, Cafe Zazzle offers a fun and casual atmosphere with upbeat music and really flavorful food.

Take a glance at some of these specialties:

Santa Fe Wrap: Mixed baby greens, jack cheese, corn, black beans, avocado, salsa & a spicy cilantro-jalapeno dressing rolled in a chipotle tortilla

 

Fish Tacos: Fresh grilled fish of the day wrapped in soft corn tortillas, topped with jack cheese, chipotle aioli & salsa. Accompanied by black beans, rice & Zazzle slaw.

Edamame (tossed with sesame oil, ginger and garlic)

Beef Tip Salad: Grilled tri-tip, fresh baby spinach leaves,          spring mix, cilantro, carrots, green onions, red bell peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, snow peas & bean sprouts tossed with a spicy ponzu-chipotle dressing

I am not a fan of deli style cole slaw by any means, but Cafe Zazzle does a version of slaw that is out of this world.  It accompanies most entrees.  Overheard at my last luncheon was “That’s probably the best slaw I’ve ever had.”  Cabbage, carrots, scallions and jicama tossed with their delicious dressing make a fresh and fabulous slaw. I need to have it every time I go to Cafe Zazzle.  I’ve even ordered it to go, just to have it as a treat for later in the day. 

So the next time you’re in downtown Petaluma and craving something delicious at reasonable prices ($9 to $13 per lunch item), stop in for a zesty treat at Cafe Zazzle.  And pop in to some of these other shops as well.
